Justification By Faith

Stephen Newdell

Based upon notes From My Utmost for His Highest Classic Edition, by Oswald Chambers
ROMAN 5:10
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
We are not SAVED by believing; We UNDERSTAND that we are saved by believing.
It is not repentance that saves us; repentance is the sign that we realize what God has done in Christ Jesus.
The importance is to emphasize the cause, the Christ and God. Is it my obedience that puts me right with God? Is that why we are consecrated? No, Never!
We are put right with God because before everything, before our birth, Christ sacrificed his life to justify us before God and God’s Law.
When we turn to God and by belief accept what God reveals, it is then that we can accept, the stupendous Atonement of Jesus Christ, which places us into a right relationship with God. By this supernatural miracle of God’s grace we stand justified, not because we are sorry for our sin, and not because we have repented.
It is because of what Jesus, (By The Heavenly Father’s direction,) has done. That is why we are rescued!
The spirit of God brings it with a breaking, all-over light, and we then know we are saved. We do not know HOW we are saved. The process and God’s understanding are too vast for us to completely realize it. But we can be assured our rescue from this miserable mud into God’s glorious Kingdom is our destiny.
The salvation of God does not stand on human logic, it stands on the Sacrificial Death of Jesus. We shall be born again when we accept and believe the Atonement of Our Lord.
Sinful women and men can be changed into new creatures, not by their repentance or their belief, but by the marvelous work of God in Christ Jesus which came before all other experiences.
The impregnable safety of justification (making us right) and sanctification (setting us aside as special for HIM) is God Himself.
There is nothing we can DO. There is no work we must provide, nor gift of money or special sacrifice. There is nothing we can do to work these things ourselves; they have been worked out by the Atonement: The supernatural becomes natural by the miracle of God; there is at last for us the realization of what Jesus Christ has already done — “It is finished.”
When you understand this, the light of God reaches your mind and you are changed forever.

WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS

God engineers circumstances to see what we will do. Will we be the children of our Father in heaven, or will we go back again to the meaner, common-sense attitude? Will we stake all and stand true to Him? “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” The crown of life means I shall see that my Lord has got the victory after all, even in me.
