The Coming War on China, from award winning journalist John Pilger, reveals what the news doesn’t – that the world’s greatest military power, the United States, and the world’s second economic power, China, both nuclear-armed, may well be on the road to war. Nuclear war is not only imaginable, but planned. The greatest build-up of NATO military forces since the Second World War is under way on the western borders of Russia. On the other side of the world, the rise of China is viewed in Washington as a threat to American dominance.
John Pilger typically writes and produces video documentaries including argument and then counter arguments with photographic evidence that argues so forcefully for his view as to be unassailable.
Mr. Pilger has again shown us the folly of our ways and our lack of wisdom. The ultimate mistake would be a nuclear exchange that would kill most life on earth.
Friends contact me and ask if I will return to the US and I answer, “I have no plans to return to the US. I expect to remain in South Asia for the rest of my life.” I can almost feel them shaking their head and thinking, “There’s something really wrong with him. Why would he leave the greatest country in the world and live in a nation where most people earn under $10/day?
Facebook Friends see my links to this blog. They don’t click. They won’t look They have, I think, no self-discipline to read more than 25 words at a time, or perhaps because they know me as a person rather than a printed name in a major newspaper they think I must have no commentary worth reading.
I think the lot of them are waiting for a war that will be like nothing ever known on earth. The only solace I can find in this is knowing if they die when bombs explode overhead, it will be instant death and they will feel nothing and know nothing. The entire conflict might last 15-minutes. The results of the explosion will kill those below it in less than 5-seconds.
The USA came very close to that moment in 1963 prepared to fire missiles at Russia and China. When it was ended a major was quietly court marshaled and drummed out of the United States Air Force. He in fact issued a stand down order that prevented the annihilation of our world. He saved the world, but because he violated an order he was forced into retirement. His reward in Heaven will be great.
If this happens again, as I believe is inevitable, there will be no one left to court-martial and no one left to say that a brave and fearful young voice over an intercom ordering “stand down. stand down” might have been the greatest human being in his generation because at least for that generation or two, he saved the world.
The Bible is quite clear. The only hope of salvation/rescue of each of us and rescue of the planet is The God-Man both Infinite God and Man who walked among us. Those who understand and feel Him pulling at our heart strings will continue looking up, because there is nothing but blackness looking the other way.
